What is SCOE?
βThe mission of the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) is to foster student success through service to students, schools, and the community.β
SCOE collaborates with the 40 school districts throughout Sonoma County to provide positive outcomes for all students. SCOE does not directly oversee any district; each district is autonomous and has its own board. However, SCOE has the ability to support all the districts in various ways. SCOE is a link to the California Department of Education and all of the Sonoma County school districts. They also help support teacher and faculty training and professional development. SCOE oversees alternative education programs as well as special education for those not enrolled in the districts.
The board is divided into five districts, with trustees representing each district, generally reflecting the same jurisdiction as the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Each Trustee is elected by the voting members in that district. Area 3 covers the school districts in central Santa Rosa, Roseland and Moorland areas of Santa Rosa, and most of Rohnert Park.
